Housing

Residence Halls

Live independently in a centrally located residence, with easy access to classes and Cannes city centre. All students are provided with a travel pass for use on local public transport system during the program. 

• A modern residence located close to local amenities.  
• Studio-style single room, air-conditioned, single room with private kitchen (equipped: microwave, fridge, hotplates, etc) and bathroom, study space, and a balcony 
• Linens provided (bed sheets and towels) 
• Weekly cleaning service included 
• Laundry facilities (fee), workout space, private garden, and communal lounge available 
• Outdoor pool (open in good weather) 
• The residence has no cafeteria service; students need to prepare all their own meals
• Monday to Friday lunch is included at the campus cafeteria
• Internet access is included in all AIFS Abroad housing in Cannes

Homestay

Students who want to experience real immersion in the language and culture of France may choose to stay with a French family.

• Double room with another AIFS Abroad or international student
• Laundry wash and change of bed linen once a week
• Breakfast every day at the homestay and lunch Monday through Sunday in the Collège cafeteria
• Single room available for an additional fee of $TBC
• The number of host families in Cannes is limited, so if you are interested in this unique opportunity, please apply early

Internet access is included in all AIFS Abroad housing in Cannes.

Geography

With a population of 70,000 people, Cannes provides all of the conveniences of cosmopolitan living. Situated on the shores of the Bay of La Napoule, it is well located for travel on the French Riviera.

Climate

The mild climate of the Côte d’Azur is also ideal for those who enjoy outdoor life.

Aude Romens

I was born in Paris, but I grew up in Cannes. I studied 2 years, communication, art & languages at Nice university. After my studies, I decided to travel on my own, in different countries and continents such as   Europe, America, Asia, Australia and north Africa. I speak French, English, Spanish and Italian.

I started to work with AIFS Abroad in 2004. I was in charge of the cultural activities. I have a strong knowledge of the Provence area, climate, architecture, culture, and economy. I will be pleased to help all students with any questions or concerns during their stay in France and share my culture with them.

The Program Director provides academic advice, introduces you to the community and handles communication with the University.

Cultural Activities

The mild climate of the French Riviera is ideal to enjoy outdoor life and swimming in the Mediterranean Sea is a favorite activity. To help you get a true taste of French culture, a range of cultural activities and excursions are included in your program fee. Previous activities have included:

• Visits to some of the Riviera’s many museums
• Boat trip to St. Marguerite island
• Excursions to Monaco, Nice, Gorges du Verdon (French Grand Canyon – only May term session)
• Half-day sightseeing to Antibes or Grasse
• Afternoon at the cinema to see a movie in French
• Ice cream or crêpes afternoon – French speaking only!
• Fireworks display
• Farewell party

Activities vary by session and not all of them will be offered. Students may need to pay a small additional fee for some of those listed above.
