AIFS Named Top Study Abroad Organization

Study Abroad Leader Also Earns “Top Program” Award

Stamford, Conn.– January 25, 2019 – – The American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) was named GoAbroad’s Top Rated Study Abroad Organization of 2018. AIFS was also awarded the Top Rated Study Abroad Program of 2018 for its semester program in Barcelona, Spain.

The Top Rated Study Abroad Organization award, presented annually by GoAbroad.com, is based on both the quantity of student reviews collected and overall ratings, as well as other measures of quality and participant satisfaction. AIFS achieved an average overall rating of 9.31 (out of 10). All reviews counted were published during the 2018 calendar year.

“With employers putting more emphasis on international education and study abroad experience, more students are looking to compare programs and read student reviews to help them choose the best program, location and term,” states William L. Gertz, Chairman and President of AIFS. “This award is particularly special because it is based on the experiences of actual participants. When students are deciding on where and when to study abroad, genuine reviews by their peers with first-hand accounts of their time studying abroad is invaluable.”

AIFS programs are hosted at some of the most desirable locations in the world, which serve as an exciting backdrop to the classroom experience as students take courses in a wide variety of areas such as art, theater, history, economics, and sociology.

Students who take the award-winning AIFS program in Barcelona, Spain, study at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and earn up to 15 college credits during the semester.

“Studying abroad in Barcelona with AIFS was the greatest experience of my life!” Liza Thorell shares in her review. “AIFS offers an array of cultural activities that allows students to immerse themselves into the culture and get to know people in the program. The program directors are the nicest and most helpful people! Anything you need the AIFS staff will help you with, from helping you get a phone to taking you to the doctor to translate for you when you are sick.”

AIFS offers nearly 200 programs spanning 28 countries including Argentina, Australia, Austria, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Russia, South Africa, and Spain. All AIFS programs are comprehensive and include housing, meals, transcripts, insurance and a rich variety of built-in cultural activities and excursions. Scholarships and financial aid are also available.
