Veritas University

Veritas University was founded in 1975 as a college of the Universidad Autónoma de Centroamérica, the first private university in Costa Rica. In 1991, Veritas University became an independent university and has since grown to become one of the most highly regarded private universities in the Latin American academic community. Veritas is fully accredited by the Costa Rican Ministry of Education. It has an urban campus, equipped with modern facilities including computer labs, a well-maintained library and a cafeteria. Free Wi-Fi access is available.

Academic Overview

A minimum enrollment of 5 students is required for a course to run.

Field trips Both courses will include field trips to medical and community health facilities. These may include visits to local organizations such as a doctor’s clinic, an HIV clinic, an alcohol and drug dependency unit and a psychiatric hospital.

Admissions requirements Open to high school graduates, college freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Lower GPAs will be considered on a case by case basis.

Attendance is mandatory and students are only allowed to have one excused absence. If a student is absent more than one day he/she will automatically fail the course and lose the academic credits.

Credits Each course totals 45 hours and is taught Monday through Friday for a total of 3 credits.

Grades No AIFS participant is permitted to take a course without receiving a letter grade. Pass/Fail grade options are not available.

Transcripts are issued by Veritas University. On completion of the program an official copy of the transcript will be mailed to your home institution.
