Hestea has been the Resident Director in Stellenbosch since 2003 and previously worked in the International Office handling student accommodations. She received both her BA (Hons) degree in Psychology and a post-graduate Hons diploma in Education from Stellenbosch University. She previously worked as a high school English teacher, a tour guide for Americans visiting South Africa as a teacher in a school and home for disabled and disadvantaged children and adults. Whilst studying she also played club field hockey in the Netherlands during the championships league.
