Meals

The optional meal plan is one of the highlights of the Florence program, with almost 100% of students rating it “excellent” every summer. It gives you a unique opportunity to become part of the Florentine culinary culture, dining alongside locals in selected restaurants and trattorias or shopping in neighborhood grocery stores.

This $850 plan includes a total of 60 vouchers that can be used for group events, breakfast, dinner and groceries.

History 

Florence was one of the wealthiest cities in medieval Europe and became the epicenter of trade and finance. The city is also considered the birthplace of the Renaissance and has been called “the Athens of the Middle Ages.” 

Architecture 

Florence’s incredible artwork and architecture caused Forbes to label the city as one of the most beautiful on earth and the reason millions of tourists a year flock to see the historic center of Florence which is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

Ann Belen

Ann is a hospitality graduate with a passion for creating unforgettable experiences. Fluent in three languages, Ann has a rich multicultural background, having been born in the Philippines, attended an Italian school and lived in the picturesque city of Florence for 16 years. Her deep connection to this city and its people makes her a reliable source for all things Florentine and she is excited to share them to everyone she meets through AIFS Abroad!

Many activities promote a way of learning through “hands-on” experience as well as integration with the local community to allow students to get the most from life in Florence. Most events are included in the program fee and only a few require a small supplementary fee. Examples of activities are:

Enjoy a day trip to the well-preserved Medieval city of Lucca and the world-known leaning tower in Pisa.

Rome

Discover the so-called Eternal City! This optional trip includes accommodation, round-trip transportation, breakfast and on-site assistance. Guided sightseeing and museum visits include the Colosseum, Campidoglio, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, St. Peter’s Basilica and more. Free time on Sunday to keep exploring the city, have the opportunity to visit more museums and/or attend mass in St. Peter’s square.

Milan and Lake Como

Discover the perfect weekend in Italy, where the elegance of Milan meets the breathtaking serenity of Lake Como. Spend two days in Milan, the fashion capital of Italy, where you’ll be guided through iconic landmarks, such as the Duomo di Milano, the breathtaking Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and the Castello Sforzesco. Then escape to Lake Como, one of Italy’s most enchanting destinations. Nestled in the foothills of the Alps, Lake Como offers crystal-clear waters and postcard-perfect views.
