AIFS Resident Director

Clíodhna Dunne

Email: maynooth@aifs.co.uk

Hi, my name is Clíodhna and I'll be looking after you in Maynooth. I have lived close to Maynooth for my whole life. I recently graduated from Maynooth with a degree in History and Accounting. I love to travel and have been to most of Europe and America twice. I would love to explore America more when I get a chance. I have been working with study abroad groups in both Maynooth and Dublin for close to a year now. I will be helping you to settle into University here and will show you a lot of Ireland and Irish culture. I can't wait to meet you and welcome you to my home university and to Dublin!

The Resident Director provides academic advice, introduces you to the community and handles communication with the University.

AIFS Campus Staff with First Aid Training

Because health and safety are top priorities at AIFS, at least one member of the staff at this campus has taken a first aid course in order to be available to help any student until a doctor or nurse can provide help. This is just one of many services that we provide to our students.

Housing and Meals

Housing

  • You will be staying in single rooms within 4-5 bedroom apartments on campus. Each apartment has a fully furnished kitchen, shared bathroom and a living room/dining room area.

Meals

  • You will receive a cooked breakfast Monday through Friday in the University cafeteria. For additional meals students can do their own cooking or can purchase low-cost meals at the cafeterias on campus. A welcome dinner will be included as part of the orientation activities, as well as some meals on excursions.

Transportation

It is less than a 10 minute walk from the housing to all classrooms, libraries, shops and public transport links. Frequent commuter trains to central Dublin take 40 minutes.

Cultural Activities

The Maynooth summer program is designed to give students a well-rounded experience and a true taste of Irish life and culture. AIFS students can access a wide variety of extracurricular clubs and societies, events and excursions over the course of the summer including an Irish farm experience and tours around Ireland. Your AIFS Resident Director will also be a wealth of information about things to see and do to make the most of your study abroad experience.

Sports Facilities

On-campus facilities for students include an indoor sports hall and fully equipped gymnasium, which accommodates a wide variety of indoor sporting activities including badminton, basketball, fencing and karate. The University has a swimming pool as well as numerous playing fields which cater to outdoor sports such as soccer, rugby, hurling and camogie. Maynooth student clubs and societies offer on-campus events during the summer school.
