HSCI 1001 (4) | Frontiers in Human Health

‘Frontiers’ ranging from the human body itself, through to global health challenges (past, present and future) will feature alongside the research approaches used to address them in fields including Global Health, Infection and Immunity, Cardiovascular Biology and Population Health. With a strong emphasis on research-informed teaching, this module will provide students with an opportunity to gain insight into multiple aspects of the research experience by learning first-hand from researchers and undertaking their own short structured research project.

Students will complete the module with an understanding of some of the world’s major health challenges and how research can be applied to understand them and improve diagnosis and treatment. Themes studied include anatomy and dissection, public health initiatives, omic technologies and public engagement. The course combines lectures, seminars and workshops, self-directed study, and a short, structured research project.
