Hola! My name is Bárbara Franconi and I am so pleased to be the AIFS Resident Director of the program at the University of Belgrano in my beloved Buenos Aires in Argentina. My team and I have been working with international students from all over the world for many years now.

We love to organize excursions, activities, and make sure the students that come to study in Buenos Aires get the most out of their stay here. Buenos Aires has so much to offer and I love to be their guide here. We prefer to take students to special places not many tourists go to, like a secret milonga, a hidden restaurant to have a famous Argentine steak, a lovely boutique in Palermo. If you are thinking about coming to Buenos Aires, please do not doubt any longer and come and be our guest.

The Resident Director provides academic advice, introduces you to the community and handles communication with the University.

Housing and Meals

  • You will live in an Argentine homestay located within the best areas of Buenos Aires such as Belgrano, Recoleta and Palermo which are within easy commute of the University by public transport.

  • You will receive a daily breakfast and dinner Monday through Friday at your homestay.

Students can join sports teams at the University of Belgrano. More information on the sports available will be given during orientation, but they usually include soccer, basketball and volleyball.

Cultural Activities

Learning does not begin or end in the classroom. To help you get a true taste of Argentine culture, a wide range of cultural activities and excursions in and around Buenos Aires are included in your program fee. The Resident Director organizes a variety of activities and visits which may include:

  • Welcome fiesta
  • Walking tours of Buenos Aires
  • Gallery and museum visits
  • ‘Mate’ get-together to experience the social way to enjoy this traditional Argentine tea
  • Traditional Argentine asado (barbecue)
  • Recoleta Cemetery where Evita is buried
  • Barrio San Telmo known for its laid back, bohemian vibe and pretty streets and squares
  • La Boca famous for the vibrant and brightly colored street known as El Caminito
  • Milonga evening to see and try tango!
  • Ateneo Grand Splendid
  • Farewell dinner

Please note that students may need to pay a small additional fee for some of the activities above.
