Overview

Spend January Term traveling through iconic cities in Europe with AIFS! Spend 3 nights in London, 4 nights in Paris, 2 nights in Nice, 2 nights in Milan, 2 nights in Venice, 3 nights in Florence and 3 nights in Rome studying the masterpieces of art history.

Academics

AIFS Abroad offers a unique global educational experience for students on this program, with the following academic options available:

Academic credit for the European Art and Culture program is awarded by Fairfield University. Fairfield University is a private Jesuit university founded in 1942 in Fairfield, Connecticut, well known for their commitment to international education. Fairfield is a fully accredited university and a member of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. In 2020 Fairfield and AIFS partnered to develop a school of record relationship that will allow academic credit to be available for both Fairfield and non-Fairfield students.

Faculty credentials for the European Art and Culture Program are reviewed and approved by Fairfield University.

Earn 3 semester credits combining classroom work with the opportunity to see a wealth of European art and culture for yourself. The course includes numerous museum, gallery and site visits to enhance classroom study and really bring the subject alive. Learn while traveling through England, France, and Italy.

Living Abroad

Day 1Optional overnight flight from U.S. to London* 
Day 2Arrive in London. Transfer to accommodation.*Students making their own travel arrangements should also arrive on this day. Time to settle in.
Evening Orientation
Day 3Morning class. Afternoon visit to the National Gallery
Day 4Free morning. Afternoon sightseeing tour with a professional guide. See London’s famous sights including Piccadilly Circus in the heart of the West End, the Houses of Parliament on the banks of the Thames and Buckingham Palace
Day 5Morning class. Late afternoon Eurostar train from London to Paris
Day 6 Morning class. Afternoon visit to the D’Orsay Museum. Evening river cruise along the Seine
Day 7 Morning visit to the Louvre. Afternoon visit to the Pompidou Center
Day 8 Morning class. Free afternoon
Day 9 Morning transfer by train to Nice. Balance of day free
Day 10 Morning visit to the Matisse Museum. Balance of day free
Day 11 Morning train to Milan by private bus. Balance of day free
Day 12Morning guided walking tour of Milan, including entrance to the Cathedral.
Afternoon class
Day 13 Morning visit to the Brera Museum. Afternoon transfer to Venice by train
Day 14Morning walking tour, including the Bridge of Sighs, St. Mark’s Square and entrance to the Church of Frari.
Afternoon class
Day 15Morning visit to the Guggenheim Museum, which holds an important collection of modern art, including works by Picasso, Miró, Kandinsky and Pollock. Afternoon transfer to Florence by train
Day 16Morning class. Afternoon guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery
Day 17Morning class. Afternoon visit to the Accademia Gallery
Day 18Morning transfer to Rome by train. Early afternoon guided visit to the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill

Optional Flight Package

Students can select an optional transportation package for all AIFS Abroad programs. Students who choose to book their own flights should meet up with group at the program location and will need to make their own ground transportation arrangements.

Below are fees by departure city based on average historical costs and subject to change. If you select this option on your application, the total flight package price will be confirmed in your account 6 months prior to departure. (Program fee is guaranteed.)
