Study Abroad in Salamanca: Cultural Excursions

London, England (2 nights)

Included for students on the optional AIFS Flight Package.

Get to know your fellow students before traveling to campus and take a sightseeing tour with a professional guide who will point out some of London’s famous landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London. You will also have free time to visit museums, see a play or stroll in London’s beautiful parks.

Includes accommodations, breakfast and sightseeing as indicated. Lunch and dinner are not included.

Avila (day trip)

Included in program fee for Session 1 and Combined session students

Visit one of the most beautiful towns in Spain which is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Set in the rolling hills northwest of Madrid, Ávila is best known for its spectacular, intact medieval walls with over 80 towers and 9 gates. Walk the walls and soak up the atmosphere on a stroll through the streets before returning to Salamanca in the early evening.

Includes transportation and sightseeing.

Mogarraz, La Alberca and Riomalo (day trip)

Included in program fee for Session 2 and 3 and Combined sessions

Visit the quaint villages of Mogarraz and La Alberca, two of the most beautiful pueblos in Spain. La Alberca was the first to be declared a “national monument” in 1940. After, enjoy Riomalo’s natural pools; go swimming, picnic and relax by the river. Evening return to Salamanca.

Includes transportation, entrance fees and sightseeing.

Portugal (day trip)

Included in program fee for Sessions 2 and 3 and Combined Session students

Visit the small town of Aveiro known as the ‘Venice of Portugal’ for its pretty canals and boats. After exploring the town enjoy the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Ocean.

Includes transportation and sightseeing.

Optional Excursion to Marrakesh, Morocco (4 days - $845)

Available to Session 2, Session 3 and Combined sessions students only on Thursday, July 11 to Sunday, July 14

Morocco in Northern Africa combines an exciting landscape of mountains, deserts, ancient medinas (old town centers) and souks (markets). Marrakech is one of Morocco’s liveliest cities and your visit will include the Djemaa El Fna, Marrakech’s main square and open air theater. You will also visit Essaouira, a beautiful fishing village on the coast and known for its wide sandy beach.

Fee includes transportation, accommodations, breakfasts, dinners and one lunch, guides and entrance fees.

Students must enroll and pay for the optional excursions in the U.S. by the final payment deadline. Students who apply after the deadline may enroll subject to availability. A minimum enrollment of 15 is required for this tour to run. Once paid for in the U.S. optional excursions are non-refundable except in the event of cancellation.

Note: If you are not a U.S. citizen you are responsible for informing yourself of any requirements necessary to visit Morocco and/or Portugal as well as acquiring a visa if required.
