Living Abroad - January Term 2023

AIFS in Granada Resident Director, January Term Program

AIFS Resident Director

Noelia Marin Muñoz

Phone: (34) 958 222 418

¡Hola! I have been working with visiting students in Granada since 2007. I studied at the University myself so am very familiar with student life here in Granada. I also spent a year studying abroad in England which gave me an understanding of how to adjust to living in a different culture. My job is to help facilitate your immersion into the Spanish language and culture; ensuring your study abroad is a fun and safe learning experience. I love watching how students change during their time here. The AIFS office is located in "Puerta Real", the very center of Granada. It is a 5-minute walk from the University building. Drop by and tell me about something wonderful you have discovered in my favorite city!

The Resident Director provides academic advice, introduces you to the community and handles communication with the University.

AIFS Campus Staff with First Aid Training

Because health and safety are top priorities at AIFS, at least one member of the staff at this campus has taken a first aid course in order to be available to help any student until a doctor or nurse can provide help. This is just one of many services that we provide to our students.

Housing and Meals

Spanish Homestay

Living with a Spanish homestay is a very rewarding way to experience the culture and to learn about how Spaniards live firsthand. Homes are carefully selected by the Resident Director. The homestay will include:

  • 3 meals a day
  • Students will receive their own house key
  • Shared room with another AIFS student
  • Once a week laundry service
  • A limited number of single rooms are available for a $140 supplement

Internet access is included in all AIFS housing in Granada

Cultural Activities

Learning does not begin or end in the classroom. To help you get a true understanding of Spanish culture and its Arabic roots, the AIFS team in Granada arranges a variety of cultural and social activities. Activities will include:

  • Guided tour of the Alhambra and Generalife
  • "Tapas" welcome event
  • Tour of the Albaicín (Old Arabic Quarter)
  • Granada of 3 cultures tour
  • Sacramonte
