Visa

Due to visa regulations, we recommend you apply early. The Russian government requires students to hold a valid visa for their period of study. AIFS will apply for your visa on your behalf if you apply to the program by the application deadline and submit all requested visa application materials, including original passports, by the required deadlines. You must possess a passport that will be valid for at least 18 months after your return to the U.S. by May 1 for fall semester, October 1 for spring. Students who do not meet this requirement may be ineligible to join the program.

AIFS pays the visa application fee for students who apply for visas through AIFS. Students who submit applications/visa materials after the deadlines may have to pay an expedited visa processing fee (approximately $200), or they may have to apply for the visa on their own if their application holds up the group. AIFS will send back the students’ passports with their pre-departure packet approximately 5 days prior to departure.

Initially students will have a single entry visa. AIFS will apply for a multi-entry visa for students on arrival in St. Petersburg at no additional cost. The multi-entry visa takes five weeks to process therefore students should not plan to travel outside Russia before the visa is processed.

I joined the AIFS team as an Admissions Officer to help students get the most out of their study abroad experience. I am a University of Connecticut graduate with a background in Interpersonal Communication. I have a passion for international education and tourism. I became a travel enthusiast after exploring Southern Ireland. I truly enjoy working with students throughout the admissions process and providing them with the assistance needed to pursue a semester or academic year abroad. When I am not in the office I am spending time with my large Irish family.

Your Admissions Officer is available to guide you through the admissions process and answer any questions you have about studying abroad on this program.
