Study Abroad in Florence: Cultural Excursions

London, England (2 nights)

Included only for students on the optional AIFS Flight Package

Get to know your fellow students before traveling to campus and take a sightseeing tour with a professional guide who will point out some of London’s famous landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London. You will also have free time to visit museums, see a play or stroll in London’s beautiful parks.

Includes accommodations, breakfast and sightseeing as indicated. Lunch and dinner are not included.

Optional Excursion to Rome/Rome Pre-tour(3 days - $575/4 days - $645)

Please note that the Rome trip is a weekend excursion for the Maymester students/7-week Program/Internship students and a pre-program tour for students on the 4-week Program. Pre-tour students can select the optional AIFS Flight Package including a 2-night stopover in London and flight to Rome or make their own flight arrangements to Rome to join the pre-tour on Thursday, June 1.

During the excursion a local guide will introduce you to Rome’s history. You will visit the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Campidoglio and more of Rome’s most famous sites such as the Spanish steps, the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain. The tour also includes visits to Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Farnese and Palazzo Spada.

You will also have the opportunity to visit the Vatican museums, admire Michelangelo’s stunning frescoes inside the Sistine Chapel, the magnificent Raphael rooms and St. Peter’s Basilica.

Optional Excursion to Venice (3 days – $575)

Departure by bus for early afternoon arrival in Venice, a city that takes your breath away. Free passes for ferries are provided. In the afternoon take a guided walking tour including the Doge’s Palace, Bridge of Sighs and St. Mark’s Square.

The following day, visit the Accademia Museum – one of the world’s greatest art treasure houses, the churches of Santa Maria dei Frari, San Rocco and the Rialto Bridge. The rest of the day is free for you to explore Venice’s riches at your leisure or follow an optional tour to the famous Murano and Burano gorgeous islands.

On the final day, visit to the Guggenheim Museum, as well as other points of interest before returning to Florence.

For all excursions, the fee includes transportation, accommodations, breakfast, sightseeing and entrances as indicated. Students must enroll and pay for excursions by April 1. Students who apply after the deadline may enroll subject to availability. If a minimum enrollment of 10 is not achieved, the tour may be cancelled. Once paid for in the U.S. optional excursions are non-refundable except in the event of cancellation.

Students taking both the Rome pre-tour and the excursion to Venice can earn an additional credit when they register for ARH 273 (1) Introduction to Italian Art.
