AIFS Program at a Glance - Summer 2020

  • 4- or 8-week summer program in Athens, Greece
  • Open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors
  • No previous Greek language study required
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA required
  • Program fee includes tuition, housing, meal allowance, excursions and cultural activities, and more. Optional AIFS Flight package available.
  • Students can choose from Session 1 or Session 2 and earn up to 6 credits or stay for both and earn up to 12 credits
  • Courses offered in accounting, anthropology, archaeology, art history, astronomy, business, communications, dance, economics, English, environmental studies, finance, history, information technology, international business, international relations, languages, law, literature, management, marketing, mathematics, music, oceanography, philosophy, physical sciences, social sciences, tourism and hospitality management
  • Honors courses available for students with a GPA of 3.5 or above
  • The local AIFS Resident Director and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
  • Comprehensive Insurance and assistance package
  • Transcripts are issued by the American College of Greece. One official copy will be sent to the studentís home institution on completion of the program.


Visas not required for U.S. citizens for less than a 3-month stay. Non-U.S. citizens are responsible for obtaining a visa as required.

I grew up in a small town in Vermont and attended the University of Vermont, very close to home. Spending a semester in Vienna during my junior year opened my eyes to the world and ignited a passion for travel, languages and cultural exchange that I still have today. I graduated from UVM with a BA in Economics, and then saved all summer so I could backpack around Europe for five weeks with a friend. Shortly after that, I lived and worked in Sweden for a year. I have continued to travel and soak up other cultures and languages whenever I can. I truly believe that studying abroad changed the course of my life and made me who I am today. As an Admissions Officer with AIFS, I am thrilled to be helping students have similarly life-changing experiences abroad.
