CUEF Intensive French Language Course

Choose one of the language courses listed at the Centre Universitaire d’Études Francaises (CUEF) for a total of 3 credits. The Intensive French Language Program is designed for students who wish to begin, improve or perfect their knowledge of the French language. The CUEF offers 4 levels of language learning from breakthrough to mastery in accordance with the Council of Europe* definitions.

French 111 Elementary (A1 –A2)*
French 211 Intermediate (B1)*
French 311 Advanced (B2 – C1)*
French 411 Superior (C1 – C2)*
Total credits: 3 credits (45 hours)

There is no language prerequisite. Students take a placement test on arrival to decide their appropriate language level. After two weeks at the CUEF in Grenoble students will then transfer to Chamonix to their partner school to complete the course.

Course

French 111/211/311/411 | Intensive French

The aim of this intensive course, at all levels, is to develop both written and oral expression and comprehension by working on grammar and vocabulary while simultaneously learning about French life and culture. Professors provide a wide range of authentic and varied language activities based on newspapers, advertisements, texts from well-known authors, local and national media and films. Courses meet 3 hours a day, 5 days a week for a total of 45 hours, plus an additional 1 hour per day of language lab work when in Grenoble.
