St. George, University of London (SGUL)

SGUL is a specialist university in London exclusively dedicated to medical, healthcare and science education, training and research. It shares a clinical environment with St George’s University Hospitals NHS (National Health Service) Foundation Trust, a major London teaching hospital, offering exceptional opportunities for knowledge exchange and translational research.

St George’s is part of the University of London and has a history of over 250 years. It first began training doctors through St George’s Hospital, which registered its first apprentice doctor in 1751. In 1834 St George’s Hospital Medical School was formally established. In 1796 Edward Jenner (student from 1770 to 1774) successfully performed the first vaccination against smallpox; the disease was declared eradicated in 1980. In 2019, SGUL was named the U.K.’s top university for graduate prospects three years in a row by the Complete University Guide.

Academic Overview

This course is team-taught by a variety of experts in their respective fields, who are based at SGUL year-round.

Assessment and grading All students will be required to complete a short structured research project, with the support of current research degree students. Final assessment is a combination of an online examination and a 1500-word project report summarizing the research project.

No AIFS participant is permitted to take a course without receiving a grade. Pass/Fail grade options are not available.

Attendance is required to receive full credit. Unexcused absences are not permitted.

Transcripts are issued by St. Georgeís, University of London. An official transcript will be sent directly to the studentís home university on completion of the program.
