Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ)
La Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) is one of Ecuador’s top-ranked universities and the only private, liberal arts university in the country. Founded in 1988, USFQ is a community of 7,000 students and 300 professors and is a leader in education, research, creativity and entrepreneurship in Latin America. USFQ opened its extension campus on San Cristóbal Island, Galápagos, in 2002 to promote conservation in the Galápagos through education and research.
Academic Overview
Earn 3 credits taking an Environmental Science course.
Admissions requirements Open to high school graduates, college freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Due to the large amount of boat trips and snorkelling activities, applicants should be comfortable being on the water and confident swimmers.
Attendance is required to receive full credit. Students exceeding the permitted number of unexcused absences may lose all or partial credit.
Credits are in parentheses. Credits are equal to American credits based on one credit for a minimum of 15 contact hours in the form of class time or experiential activities (excursions, visits and lectures at sites).
Grades No AIFS participant is permitted to take a course without receiving a grade. Pass/Fail grade options are not available.
Transcripts are issued by the Universidad San Francisco de Quito. One official copy will be sent to the student’s home institution on completion of the program.
