Study Abroad in Havana, Cuba

Life Abroad - January Term 2018

AIFS in Havana, January Term Program

AIFS provides a dedicated Resident Director for this program who will assist students throughout. Details and contact information will be available prior to the start of the January-term program.

The Resident Director provides academic advice, introduces you to the community and handles communication with the University.

Housing and Meals

Accommodations in a 3-star tourist class hotel is included. Breakfast and one meal (lunch or dinner) per day are included. Students will taste the Cuban cuisine in the “paladares” or privately run restaurants and in the official state run restaurants. Internet is available although is more limited than in the U.S. and there is often a fee for accessing public WI-Fi hotspots.

Cultural Activities

Learning does not begin or end in the classroom. To help you get a true taste of Cuban culture, a wealth of cultural activities and excursions are included in your program fee.

There is always something going on and something to do. In addition to the field trip, activities may include:

  • A tour of the Museum of the Revolution, El Morro and La Cabaña Fortress and the cannon firing ceremony
  • Walking tours of Historic Old Havana
  • Language and cultural exchange sessions with Cuban students
  • Service learning activities such as a beach or a school clean-up

Please note that students may pay a small additional fee for some of the activities above.
