Sue Roberts

Associate Provost for Internationalization

University of Kentucky

Sue Roberts is Associate Provost for Internationalization at the University of Kentucky, where she is also Professor of Geography. Her BA is from the University of Leicester (in Britain) and her MA and PhD are from The Maxwell School at Syracuse University. Sue is a specialist in economic and political geography.

Sue has served as Chair of the Department of Geography and as Associate Dean for International Affairs in the College of Arts and Sciences, where she also directed the International Studies Program. Sue has spent time living and working in England, Mexico, Australia and Finland. She was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Turku, Finland in 2012-2013. Sue has also been a Fulbright Specialist in South Africa and participated in the Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators seminar in India in 2024. Sue has been in her current role since July 2016, leading the university’s International Center, which includes Education Abroad and Exchanges; International Student and Scholar Services; International Student Recruitment; International Research and Partnerships; International Health, Safety and Security; and Global Health Initiatives. Under her leadership, the University of Kentucky was recognized with the Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization from NAFSA and the International Impact Award from the APLU, both in 2023.
