AIFS Program at a Glance - Fall 2018 & Spring 2019

  • Academic Year, Fall or Spring Semester
  • Courses Taught in English and Portuguese (no previous Portuguese language study required)
  • Open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Program fee includes tuition, housing, a meal allowance, excursions and cultural activities, orientation workshops, and more. Optional AIFS Flight Package available.
  • Courses include business, economics, environmental studies, geography, history, international relations, politics, law, Portuguese language, sociology. Internships also available.
  • Visa required before traveling to Brazil
  • The local AIFS Resident Director and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
  • Comprehensive Insurance and assistance package
  • Transcripts issued by Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP)

Application and Scholarship Deadlines

AIFS Study Abroad Scholarships available!
The scholarship deadline is April 15 for the Academic Year/Fall Semester and October 1 for the Spring Semester.

Visa

Students traveling to Brazil must obtain a visa before departure from the U.S. AIFS will provide instructions to help you secure your visa once you have been accepted into the program. We advise you to apply early as the visa process can be lengthy.

A Connecticut native, I have returned to the area after spending several years living, working and studying abroad. I hold a BA in International Studies with a French minor from Fairfield University and a Cambridge CELTA from AKCENT International House Prague. After a time teaching English in France, I went on to complete a Master of Arts in International Social Development at the University of East Anglia. I am passionate about international education and the importance of the internationalization of higher education for an increasingly global society. In my free time I enjoy cooking, music and of course traveling as much as possible!
