Jason Hope
Director, Global Risk & Strategic Operations
Jason began his career in international education in 2012 as a member of the Education Abroad team at the University of Kentucky (UK). Since then, he has held various positions at the institution, and he became the University’s inaugural international risk manager in 2016. Jason’s work focuses on the health and safety of UK’s international travelers, supporting students and employees traveling to higher-risk destinations, and more. In 2022, he also became responsible for the implementation of ‘Global UK,’ the University’s strategic plan for internationalization.
Throughout his career, Jason has presented at regional, national, and international conferences on best practices in international health and safety and risk management. He has also published several articles on the topic and has been interviewed by organizations ranging from Inside Higher Ed to the Wall Street Journal.
Outside of his role at UK, Jason serves on the Board of Directors of Pulse International and the OSAC Academia Sector Committee’s Steering Committee. He has also served in several leadership roles with NAFSA.
Jason received bachelors degrees in International Studies and Spanish, as well was a masters degree in Educational Policy Studies & Evaluation, from UK. He also holds a graduate certificate in Emergency Management from Eastern Kentucky University.
