Dr. Lisa Loberg
Director of Study Abroad
Loberg joins LMU from California Lutheran University, where she was a senior lecturer in the Department of Languages and Cultures and senior director of global engagement for study abroad. In addition to teaching, she created the university’s study abroad center, expanded international programs and partnerships, and worked on initiatives to promote Cal Lutheran’s internationalization.
Active in the field of International Education for more that 13 years, Loberg is the private university representative for CalAbroad, a regional organization for study abroad professionals. She also serves on the advisory boards for IAU College in Aix-en-Provence, France, and the American Institute for Foreign Study. She was a co-founder of the nonprofit organization, Lessons From Abroad, which provides resources, programming, and regional conferences to study abroad returnees throughout the United States. Loberg previously worked for the American University of Paris and Boston College.
Loberg earned her Ed.D. in educational leadership from UCLA and her M.A. in French from Boston College. Her research examines student participation in study abroad, as well as outcomes of a study abroad experience.
