Upcoming Alumni Webinars

The AIFS Alumni webinars are free of charge and open to any AIFS alumni, no matter what year you studied abroad with us. Webinars are one hour long and cover a wide range of professional development topics. Attendees are encouraged to come to the webinar with questions and examples from their own experiences to provide a more collaborative environment.

We will be posting upcoming dates in the weeks ahead. Below are the previous topics covered.

Job Search 101: The Devil’s in the Details (1 hour)

This webinar will give an overview of best practices in your job search, including the initial application, interview process and post-interview follow-up. Presenters will highlight examples from their own experiences as job seekers and interviewers.

Exploring Careers in International Education and Exchange (1 hour)

This webinar will feature several professionals in the field of International Education and Exchange. The panel will share the benefits and challenges of working in the field along with tips for navigating a targeted job search.

Marketing Your International Experience (1 hour)

You know that studying abroad isn’t something everyone is willing to do, and that you learned a lot about another culture and about yourself. But are you ready to explain that knowledge and those skills that set you apart in that job interview? How do you offer real examples of the challenges you faced and the successes you had? Join this webinar to learn a simple process of crafting examples that will show potential employers that you are the one for the job.

Exploring a Career with the US State Department (1 hour)

This webinar will feature AIFS alum Ryan Dooley who studied abroad in Grenoble, France and now is the Director of the Miami Passport Agency for the US State Department. Dooley has traveled to more than 60 countries in his current position and will share opportunities available to students before and after graduation with the US State Department.

Going Abroad Again: Volunteer, Work and Grad School (1 hour)

This webinar will focus on three of the most popular ways in which you can go abroad again: to volunteer, to work and for graduate school. Information on logistics to consider, resources on selecting a program and funding opportunities will be discussed.
