I attended Ball State University and graduated with a BS in Photojournalism and a Master’s in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education. During my time in college, I studied abroad as a junior on my university’s London Centre program and returned to the program as the Graduate Assistant for three semesters. It was this experience that directly led to my interest in working with returnee students. I know first-hand what it is like to come back from your time abroad and find that you have changed a tremendous amount and “home” has a different meaning. I’ve worked at AIFS since 2009 and feel fortunate that I can help students as they make the transition from college students to career professionals. In addition to my role at AIFS, I also serve as the Vice President and New Conference Liaison for Lessons From Abroad, a non-profit organization that runs regional conferences for study abroad returnees and present at conferences regularly on returned student programming. I am thrilled to be co-authoring the NAFSA: Association of International Educators publication for study abroad returnees, which will be available in November 2018.

I studied abroad my junior year in Aix-en-Provence, France. This experience set me on a path that allowed me to spend several years living, working and studying abroad. After finishing my BA in International Studies with a French minor from Fairfield University, I went to the Czech Republic to complete a Cambridge CELTA from AKCENT International House Prague. This led me to a job as an English Teaching Assistant in Cannes, France, and then on to complete a Master of Arts in International Social Development at the University of East Anglia. Each experience brought me something new; a new place to call home, new friends, a new appreciation for the world and a deeper understanding of my place in it. As a result, I am passionate about international education and view the internationalization of higher education as essential for success in an increasingly global society. In my work with the alumni programs, I love working with students who share that enthusiasm, and seeing the incredible strides that they can make on their home campuses.
