Study Abroad in Granada: Overview
Program at a glance
- Academic year, fall or spring semester (summer session also available )
- Open to college freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors
- 2.5 minimum GPA required
- Program fee includes tuition, housing, meals, London stopover, excursions and cultural activities, airfare if selected, visit to Madrid and Castile, and more
- Courses offered in Spanish in anthropology, art history, economics, geography, history, literature, music, political science and sociology, plus Spanish language
- No previous Spanish study required for the Elementary Spanish and English program
- Two years previous Spanish study at the college level is required for the Intermediate Language and Culture program, three years at college level for the advanced Hispanic Studies program
- Orientation in Granada entails 80 contact hours (5 credits) of Spanish language study in the Fall or 60 contact hours (4 credits) in the Spring
- Student visa must be obtained from the Spanish consulate before departure from the U.S.
- Transcripts issued by the University of Granada
Application and scholarship deadlines
- Applications must be postmarked by May 15 for academic year or fall semester; November 15 for spring. Applications postmarked after this date are subject to a late fee of $250
- AIFS Study Abroad Scholarships available. Scholarship application deadlines are April 15 for academic year, fall semester; October 1 for spring semester.
