Study Abroad in Granada: Housing and Meals
One of the best ways to integrate into the local community is to live with Spaniards. Many student say that the Spanish homestay experience was the most rewarding part of their time abroad. Homes are carefully selected by the Resident Director and students take all meals with the family. Students live in double rooms with full bathrooms. Requests for a particular roommate are usually honored depending on availability.
Students may request to live in a Spanish homestay or to live among other Spanish and international students at a student residence hall. Students have 3 meals per day from Monday to Saturday in the residence dining room. Sunday meals are not included. Students with food allergies or special food requests must specify their need on the application form. The student residence hall is centrally located in Granada, about a 10-minute walk to the University building. Rooms in the residence hall are limited and assigned on a first-come first-served basis.
A supplement of $180 for the 4-week program and $270 for the 6-week program is payable by students who choose to live in the residence.
AIFS always arranges the best accommodation available for students. After the program begins, AIFS students may not switch from dorm to host family or vice versa. Changes in housing will be considered only in the event of health and safety issues.
