Professor Pompeu Fabra was born in Barcelona in 1868. He is considered the father of modern Catalan. Although most academic year courses are taught in Catalan, the Department of Hispanic Studies offers an excellent summer program of Spanish language classes taught in Spanish.
The University library is equipped with computers, to which students have free access, along with the Internet. The library is open 24 hours a day.
