Program at a glance

and cultural activities, airfare if selected, visit to Cederberg Mountains and Cape Town,

- Courses offered in English in African studies, conservation ecology, history, literature, political science, religious studies and theater arts
- Community volunteer opportunities available as well as a new Service Learning Certificate
- On-site orientation in Stellenbosch
- The local AIFS Resident Director and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
- Study Permit (temporary residence permit) mandatory. Apply to the South African consulate

Application and scholarship deadlines
- Applications must be postmarked by April 15 for academic year or July-November semester; November 15 for January-June semester. This allows time for Stellenbosch University department heads to review them. Applications postmarked after this date are subject to a late fee of $250. Students applying later may receive their acceptance and study permit late.
- AIFS Study Abroad Scholarships available. The scholarship application deadlines are April 15 for academic year or July-November semester; October 1 for January-June semester.
