Study Abroad in St. Petersburg: Overview

Program at a glance

  • Academic year, fall or spring semester (summer session also available)
  • Open to college freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors
  • 2.5 minimum GPA required
  • Program fee includes tuition, housing, some meals, excursions and cultural activities, airfare if selected, visit to Moscow, and more
  • Courses offered in English in art history, history, literature, political science, sociology, and Russian language
  • No previous Russian study required
  • Full range of language courses, seminars in English for foreign students, seminars in Russian for advanced students
  • On-site orientation
  • The local AIFS Resident Director and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
  • Required visa is obtained by AIFS
  • Transcripts issued by St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University

Application and scholarship deadlines

  • Applications must be postmarked or submitted online by May 1 for academic year or fall semester; November 15 for spring semester. Applications received after this date are subject to a late fee of $250
  • AIFS Study Abroad Scholarships available. The scholarship application deadlines are April 15 for academic year or fall semester; October 1 for spring semester.
