Richmond, The American International University in London — Rome Center

This program is taught by faculty of Richmond, The American International University in London. The University is an independent, non-profit international university of liberal arts and professional studies. It is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, one of the six regional accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Richmond is licensed to grant BA and BS degrees by the Department of Education in the State of Delaware, where the University is incorporated. See pages 56-57 for a full description. Its degrees are also validated by the British Open University and it was the first university in the U.K. to have its degrees validated by both U.S. and U.K. authorities. All of Richmond’s degrees are designated by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills of Her Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom.

Richmond in Rome

The Director of the program is appointed by Richmond and supervised by the Richmond administration in London, including the Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. Professors in the Richmond study abroad programs are appointed by the University from its own faculty and from cooperating institutions.

Students may also enroll for a semester or year at Richmond in London where courses that complement their Rome experience are offered in art history, business, the humanities, political science, sociology, studio art and a range of other disciplines. In addition, students may spend a semester on the Florence program either before or after the Rome semester.
