Study Abroad in Florence: Student Life
Activities
Students learn about Italian art, culture and history simply by being in Florence with its Pitti Palace, Piazza della Signoria, Accademia and San Marco. To further broaden their experience, Richmond staff organize an excellent program of cultural and social activities and advise students on how to get the most from cultural life in Florence. Excursions to magnificent museums, art galleries, churches and theaters in Florence, Italian cooking classes, dinners and parties with Italian students are just some examples.
An exchange conversation program with Italian students is arranged for interested students, and the possibility for volunteer work is offered to those who wish to take an active role in their local community. Placements are offered in a variety of different environments – schools, hospitals, museums and day care and recreational centers. This is a great opportunity for students to improve their Italian language ability, to gain the confidence of the locals and to experience the heart and soul of Italian culture.
