There are numerous opportunities to make excursions into the city and surrounding environment. Students can travel easily by rail and bus throughout Ireland from Limerick. Dublin, Galway and Cork are each about two hours away. Shannon airport is 16 miles from Limerick, making flights to other European cities highly accessible.

Traditional Irish Music Night

Enjoy traditional Irish music in Java’s café at the University campus. Music is provided by musicians from the University’s renowned Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. Experience the sounds of the traditional tin whistle and bodhrán.

Blarney and Cobh day trip

Visit the famous Blarney Stone and Castle in County Cork, where you can kiss the stone which grants the “gift of the gab”. Then visit the town of Cobh where the Titanic departed. The Cobh Heritage Center provides a glimpse of emigration from Ireland in the 19th and 20th centuries.
