Study Abroad in Hyderabad: Housing & Meals
Two housing options are available for this program. There are a limited number of places available in the Study India Program (SIP) guest house. This is a small residence specially designed for study abroad students. Facilities are of a high standard with single and double occupancy rooms with shared bathrooms. All rooms are air conditioned and the residence also provides a dining room, computer room, T.V. room and laundry facilities. All meals are taken in the SIP residence cafeteria which provides good quality Indian and Western food.
Students also have the option of staying in a homestay with a local Indian family. Families are carefully screened by the University of Hyderabad and living standards are comparable to those in the West. Most families are located close to the University. Students will be provided with a single room within the family home. They will eat breakfast and dinner with the family daily and will be provided with a small allowance for the purchase of lunch. Students are encouraged to practice their language skills as much as possible within the family and to join in with family life. This is an excellent opportunity to experience Indian day-to-day life.
