Sumana received a BA from Osmania University in Hyderabad, an MA in Communications from the University of Hyderabad, and an MA in Media Studies and Education from Pennsylvania State University. Her father was a professor at the University of Hyderabad, and she lived on campus for over 10 years. Sumana returned to Hyderabad with her husband and children after living in California for several years. She has worked as a freelance writer, editor and proof-reader for many years and as an Enrichment Teacher for the local school district in California. Sumana is on call every day to help students adjust to life in India and coordinate all aspects of student life in Hyderabad.

The Resident Director provides academic advice, introduces you to the community and handles communication with the University.
