Study Abroad in Berlin: Beyond the Classroom

Learning does not begin or end in the classroom. To help you get a true taste of German culture, a wealth of cultural activities and excursions are included in your program fee.

Past activities have included:

  • Visits to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Museum Island in Berlin and the palaces and gardens of Potsdam
  • Visit to the Nazi concentration camp “Sachsenhausen” that was used to imprison opponents and victims of the Third Reich
  • Day trip to Spree forest, the “Venice of Brandenburg”: an impressive area formed in the Ice Age when the river Spree was transformed into a labyrinth of almost 1,000 km of small rivers.
  • Boat trip
  • Visit to a brewery
  • Visit to the outdoor museum “Topography of Terror”
  • Evening at an open-air theater
  • Picnic
  • Social activities with other summer school students

Please note that students may be asked to pay a small additional fee for some of the activities above.
