Study Abroad in Paris: Orientation

Orientation in Cannes

To ensure students obtain the maximum benefit from their stay in France, AIFS arranges a 2-week orientation in Cannes that includes language classes that suit a variety of needs.

Collège International de Cannes
Cannes is a sunny Mediterranean resort with a mild climate. Classes are taught by the faculty of the Collège, which issues transcripts for the orientation program. The Collège is a private institution of higher learning founded in 1931 and is certified by the National Ministry of Education. Situated about a mile from the Old Port and elegant boutiques on the world famous Boulevard de la Croisette, the Collège is set on spacious and attractive grounds. Students generally walk or take a bus to the city center. Facilities at the Collège include a theater, library, snack bar, TV room, game room and volleyball court. The beach is across the street.

Orientation housing and meals
Students stay in Collège dorms and receive three meals a day in the Collège cafeteria.

Orientation language courses
Elementary French 101, Intermediate French 201, Upper Intermediate French 301 and Advanced French 401 are worth two credits in the fall and spring. Classes meet 15 hours a week in small groups of approximately 15. Emphasis is on written French, basic grammar, pronunciation, phrases and vocabulary needed for everyday life. Work on written skills helps prepare students for the Sorbonne placement test.

Students should put the appropriate course number on the application along with other course selections.
