Study Abroad in Cannes: Cultural Travel
From Cannes students can explore the French regions of Provence and the Riviera, travel easily into Italy or northern Spain or explore the tiny principality of neighboring Monaco.
3-day visit to London (Included in fee)
Every semester begins with a 3-day visit to London en route to Cannes.
Monday, August 23 or Thursday, February 3 Morning arrival in London. Balance of the day free for rest and relaxation.
Tuesday, August 24 or Friday, February 4 Morning sightseeing
tour with a professional guide who will point out some of London’s most famous landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London. Afternoon and evening free.
Wednesday, August 25 or Saturday February 5 Transfer to airport for flight to Nice. Transfer to Cannes by bus.
The fee includes hotel, breakfasts, sightseeing tour and local guide. Lunch and dinner are not included.
2-day visit to Provence (Included in fee)
AIFS plans two days in Provence to enable students to explore this region in southern France.
Saturday, September 18 or April 23 Students visit Arles, where Van Gogh spent his most creative years. The late morning arrival allows for visits to major Roman sites including the theater and arena. In the afternoon, students visit Les Baux de Provence, a picturesque medieval hill town, continuing to Le Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct. Dinner included. Overnight in Avignon.
Sunday, September 19 or April 24 After a morning visit to the Palace of the Popes, there is free time to explore Avignon, and its famous bridge. The afternoon includes a visit to a vineyard and wine tasting in the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Return to Cannes in the evening.
Includes accommodations, meals, travel, entrance fees and sightseeing as indicated.
Optional 3-day visit to Florence, Italy ($595)
Friday, October 22 or February 25 Morning departure by bus to Florence. Overnight in Florence.
Saturday, October 23 or February 26 Students take a guided sightseeing tour including the splendid Duomo, Ghiberti’s famous Baptistery Doors and Santa Croce. Also in the afternoon, visit the Uffizi Gallery. The rest of the day is free to shop for fine leather or gold. The best buys are around Santa Croce. Overnight in Florence.
Sunday, October 24 or February 27 Morning visit to the Accademia to see Michelangelo’s David. Early afternoon return to Cannes by bus.
Fee includes accommodations, breakfast, travel, entrance fees and sightseeing. Lunch and dinner not included. If a minimum enrollment of 15 is not achieved, the tour may be cancelled. Once paid for in the U.S. optional excursions are non-refundable.
3-day visit to Paris (Included in fee)
AIFS organizes a 3-day trip to Paris to give students the opportunity to explore the capital of France. The tour includes guided visits to some of the most famous sites and plenty of free time to explore Paris independently.
Friday, November 19 or March 18 Morning flight from Nice to Paris. Afternoon sightseeing to discover the major monuments of Paris such as the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Champs-Elysées. Dinner and overnight in Paris.
Saturday, November 20 or March 19 Morning visit to a museum or monuments. Free time in the afternoon to explore Paris independently. Overnight in Paris.
Sunday, November 21 or March 20Walking tour of Montmartre or visit to a museum and free time to explore Paris independently. Afternoon return flight to Nice and transfer to Cannes.
Includes transportation, accommodations, breakfast, sightseeing and entrance fees as indicated. Students receive an allowance for dinner.
