Study Abroad in Cannes: Travel
From Cannes students can explore the French regions of Provence and the Riviera, travel easily into Italy or northern Spain or explore the tiny principality of neighboring Monaco.
3-day London stopover (Included in fee)
Every semester begins with a 3-day stopover in London en route to Cannes. Students have the opportunity to visit London, recover from jet lag and meet and travel with fellow AIFS students to campus. The fee includes hotel, breakfasts, airport transfers, sightseeing tour and local guide. Lunch and dinner are not included.
Monday, August 27 or Thursday, January 31 Morning arrival in London where the flight will be met by an AIFS representative. Transfer by bus to a centrally located hotel. Balance of the day free for rest and relaxation.
Tuesday, August 28 or Friday, February 1 Morning sightseeing tour with a professional guide who will point out some of London’s most famous landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London. Afternoon and evening free.
Wednesday, August 29 or Saturday, February 2 Transfer to airport for flight to Nice. Transfer to Cannes by bus.
2-day visit to Provence (Included in fee)
AIFS plans two days in Provence to enable students to explore this region in southern France. Includes accommodations, meals, travel, entrance fees and sightseeing as indicated.
Saturday, September 22 or April 26 Students visit Arles, where Van Gogh spent his most creative years. The late morning arrival allows for visits to major Roman sites including the theater and arena. In the afternoon, students visit Les Baux de Provence, a picturesque medieval hill town, continuing to Le Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct. Dinner included. Overnight in Avignon.
Sunday, September 23 or April 27 After a morning visit to the Palace of the Popes, there is free time to explore Avignon, and its famous bridge. The afternoon includes a visit to a vineyard and wine tasting in the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Return to Cannes in the evening.
Optional 3-day visit to Florence, Italy ($345)
Friday, October 19 or February 22 Morning departure by bus for Florence. Overnight in Florence.
Saturday, October 20 or February 23 Today a guided sightseeing tour shows you the splendid Duomo, Ghiberti’s famous Bapistery Doors and Santa Croce. Also visit the Accademia to see Michelangelo’s David. The afternoon is free to shop for fine leather or gold.The best buys are around Santa Croce. Overnight in Florence.
Sunday, October 21 or February 24 Morning visit to the Uffizi Gallery. Afternoon return to Cannes by bus. Fee includes accommodations, breakfast, travel, entrance fees and sightseeing. Lunch and dinner not included. If a minimum enrollment of 15 is not achieved, the tour may be cancelled. Dates and itineraries are tentative and subject to change. Once paid for in the U.S., optional excursions are non-refundable.
4-day visit to Paris (Included in fee)
AIFS organizes a 4-day trip to Paris to give students the opportunity to explore the capital of France. The tour includes guided visits to some of the most famous sites and plenty of free time to explore Paris independently. Includes transportation, accommodations, breakfast, sightseeing and entrance fees as indicated. Students receive an allowance for dinner.
Thursday, November 15 or March 13 Morning flight from Nice to Paris. A guided tour takes students to the major monuments of Paris such as the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Champs-Elysées. Dinner and overnight in Paris.
Friday, November 16 or March 14 Morning visit to the Eiffel Tower and afternoon visit to the Louvre Museum. Overnight in Paris.
Saturday, November 17 or March 15 Museum visit and free time to explore Paris independently. Overnight in Paris.
Sunday, November 18 or March 16 Walking tour of Montmartre and free time to explore Paris independently. Early afternoon return flight to Nice and transfer to Cannes.
