Study Abroad in Prague: Cultural Excursions
London, England and Munich, Germany (4 days)

Begin your semester with a 3-day visit to London and an overnight visit to Munich, en route to Prague.
In London, take a sightseeing tour with a professional guide who will point out some of London’s most famous landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London. Have time to explore the city on your own where you can take in the gorgeous parks and gardens, see a play in the West End or shop for vintage clothes at Camden Market.
Finally, fly to Munich, the capital city of Bavaria. See the sights of Munich including the Glockenspiel and Nymphenburg Palace.

Kraków, Poland (3 days)

Kraków is one of the great Central European cities: a city of culture, a city of kings and a city of learning. Its beautiful main square is one of the largest in medieval Europe. Its castle at Wawel Hill has existed for more than 1,000 years and is considered by many Poles to be the home of the nation.
Take a stroll through Kraków’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to Market Square, one of the largest in all Europe. See the intricate Gothic altar masterpiece in St. Mary’s Church. Then visit Wawel Castle; the Jewish Quarter, Kazimierz, setting for the movie, Schindler’s List; and the remains of the WWII Jewish Ghetto in the Podgórze district.
Before returning to Prague, visit the Martyrdom Museum in Auschwitz-Birkenau, the infamous Nazi Concentration Camp of WWII, preserved as a memorial to the 1.5 million people of 28 nationalities who perished there.

Optional excursion to Berlin, Germany (3 days $295)
Visit Germany’s capital and largest city. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Museum Island, the world-famous Brandenburg Gate, and the superb architecture of the impressive Reichstag building are among the most famous attractions. Take a sightseeing tour with a guide who will indicate the Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden, Checkpoint Charlie, Potsdamer Platz, and the Reichstag building. Visit Museum Island, and the Postdam Castle and Gardens.

Optional excursion to Vienna, Austria (3 days $295)
The grandiose city of Vienna (Wien), with a population of nearly 1.7 million, was the showpiece of the Habsburg Dynasty, which controlled much of Europe for more than 600 years. Despite the ravages of time, its cultural gems remain: monumental edifices line the city center, world class museums burst with historical and artistic treasures and internationally established orchestras perform in lavish concert halls.
Visit Stephansplatz, where Mozart was married and where his funeral was held; Belvedere Palace constructed for Prince Eugene of Savoy between 1714 and 1722; Hundertwasserhaus, designed by the contemporary Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser; and Schönnbrun Palace. Take a walking tour of the center of Vienna and enjoy free time to explore the city.

Optional 2-day visit to Moravia, Czech Republic ($180)
Moravia is the eastern region of the Czech Republic famous for its wine and beautiful scenery.
Day 1: Travel by private coach to a cloister in Tisnov whose gate is called Porta Coeli – "The Gate to Heaven." Then on to Slavkov (Austerlitz), where Napoleon was victorious over the Austrians and Russians in 1805. Next visit Brno to see Gregor Mendel’s Garden and museum in the monastery where Mendel grew his famous, yellow wrinkled peas and discovered the foundations of genetics. Tour central Brno including the historical town hall, and the Capuchin Crypt where the mummified bodies of monks from centuries past are resting right on the floor of the crypt. Overnight accommodation at Vinný sklep U Vrbu - a Family run wine cellar in Hustopece, dinner included.
Day 2: Departure after breakfast for Krtiny to visit one of the most beautiful baroque churches in Europe nicknamed "The pearl of Moravia." Next is the Moravian Karst, the most beautiful complex of underground caves in Central Europe. Tour the depths of the caves on foot and by boat on an underground river. The last stop is the Church of St. Barbara in Adamov, a town in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic to see the wooden Gothic altarpiece, which was part of the original sculpture carved for the Zwettl Abbey in the early 16th century.

Optional 3-day visit to Southern Bohemia, Czech Republic and Salzburg, Austria ($325)
Southern Bohemia is home to the town of Cesky Krumlov and the original Budweiser brewery. Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart and the location of The Sound of Music, borders the Austrian Alps.
Day 1: Travel by private coach to Cesky Krumlov. The first stop is the Rozemberk castle, one of the most beautiful castles in the region. It dates back to the 13th century and belonged to the most prominent noble families in Czech history. Then move on to the center of Cesky Krumlov with free time for lunch before a guided tour of the town. Overnight in Ceske Budejovice, the main town of the region.
Day 2: Breakfast and check out of the hotel. Then on to a guided tour of the Budweis brewery, which brews the world famous beer whose name has been contested with Budweiser beer in the U.S. A guided tour of the old town of Ceske Budejovice. Overnight in Ceske Budejovice follows before continuing to Salzburg. A short tour of Salzburg is offered after checking in to the hotel. Overnight in Salzburg.
Day 3: Breakfast and check out of the the hotel. A full guided tour of Salzburg is in the morning. Afternoon transfer to the town of Berchtesgaden in the mountainous Obersalzberg region and visit the site known as Eagle's Nest, which served as a retreat for Hitler in WWII. Late afternoon transfer to Prague. The fee includes accommodations, breakfast, travel, selected entrance fees and sightseeing.
