Study Abroad in Prague: Student Life
NEW! Volunteer opportunties at Lobkowicz Palace and Nelahozeves Castle
As of Fall Semester 2008, AIFS students have the unique opportunity to apply for positions as volunteers at the Lobkowicz Palace within the precinct of Prague Castle and at Nelahozeves Castle, 15km from Prague. Learn more.
Activities
AIFS activities, included in the fee, are offered every week and may include walking tours of Prague, trips to the spa town of Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad), the UNESCO-protected town of Cesky Krumlov, the Skoda auto works, and an agricultural cooperative. Visits to the opera, theater, concerts and art galleries may also be included.
Computer access and e-mail
AIFS maintains computers and a laser printer at its office exclusively for AIFS students, available at any time during office hours, or by appointment with the Resident Director. Students generally use their web-based e-mail accounts.
Libraries
In addition to access to Charles University libraries, students have privileges at the State Library and the Library of the Institute of International Relations. The number of English books in Prague is limited, so most of the libraries are used solely for reference.
Transportation
Public transportation is convenient. AIFS gives each student a transportation pass to ride the metro, buses and trams.
