Study Abroad in San José: Beyond the Classroom

Learning does not begin or end in the classroom. To help you get a true taste of Central American culture, a wealth of cultural activities and excursions are included in your program fee.

Both inside and outside the classroom students will have the opportunity to participate in a rich program of cultural activities organized by the University and the AIFS Resident Director. There is always something going on during the week such as:

  • Tours in and around San José
  • Tropical dance lessons
  • Sports
  • Bowling
  • Visits to local attractions including:
    • museums
    • markets
  • Performances including:
    • theater
    • concerts
  • Participation in a conversation partner program with Costa Rican students

Please note that students may pay a small additional fee for some of the activities
above.
