Study Abroad in San José: Overview

Program at a glance

• 5-week summer study abroad in San José, Costa Rica
• Open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors
• Minimum GPA of 2.5 required
• Program fee includes tuition, housing, some meals, excursions and cultural activities, trips to Arenal Volcano, Baldi Hot Springs and Monteverde Cloud Forest , airfare if selected, and more
• Earn up to 8 semester credits
• Courses include Spanish language classes at all levels plus an Environmental Studies course taught in English or literature courses taught in Spanish
• The local AIFS Resident Director and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
• Transcripts issued by Veritas University

Application and scholarship deadlines

• Applications must be postmarked or submitted online by March 15, 2009. Applications received after this date are subject to a $200 late fee.
• AIFS Study Abroad Scholarships available. The scholarship deadline is March 1, 2009.
