Study Abroad in Beijing: Program Fees

Fees include:

  • Tuition (5 semester credits for Mandarin and 2 semester credits for Chinese Cultural History Studies)
  • Housing in twin-bedded rooms in on-campus residence
  • Allowance for meals when on campus and other meals as specified
  • Cultural activities and excursions
  • 3-day orientation in Shanghai (flight from Shanghai to Beijing included in the “without airfare” fee)
  • 2-day visit to Xian
  • Computer facilities and Internet access
  • Services of a pre-departure Student Advisory Center and an on-site Resident Director
  • Pre-departure handbook
  • Phone card on arrival to call the U.S.
  • Round trip airfare if that option is selected

The Program fee without airfare does not include the non-refundable $95 application fee, required insurance/assistance package fee of $310, and a refundable damage deposit of $250. AIFS guarantees that these fees will not increase.

The Program fee with airfare does not include the above reference fees/deposit. Additionally, it does not include airline and airport related taxes and fuel surcharges currently estimated to be $280. AIFS guarantees that the airfare and airline/airport-related fees and surcharges will not increase beyond this estimate, even in the event of the assessment of additional fees by these entities.

Transfers to and from campus are included for students who have booked their flights with AIFS, but only on the scheduled arrival/departure dates and from the local airport. Students making their own flight arrangements should note that the program starts in Shanghai and ends in Beijing.
