Guten Tag! Not sure what that means yet? Don't worry, after the 2-week language orientation, you will pick up much more than "hello." After 20 years at AIFS I am certain of that!
I am of German-American descent and was born and raised in Indiana. Every year my family and I would visit Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France, which prompted me to study abroad on this very AIFS program.
During my time as a student, I learned a great deal about Austrians, Austrian culture and the language. I was so taken with this beautiful city that I returned to live.
While you are in Austria I will be working hard to ensure all aspects of the program run smoothly and am always happy to give advice on how to get the most out of your time abroad.
AIFS Campus Staff with First Aid Training
Because health and safety are top priorities at AIFS, at least one member of the staff at this campus has taken a first aid course in order to be available to help any student until a doctor or nurse can provide help. This is just one of many services that we provide to our students.

Gruess Gott! I am an Austrian citizen and the experience I gained while being an Au Pair and studying in the U.S. helps me to understand exactly how you will feel while studying and living in a foreign country. In my free time I enjoy running, hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing, cooking, reading and listening to music.
Salzburg is a wonderful city in which to study and live due to its small size and the close proximity of the awe-inspiring mountains and beautiful lake district. You simply cannot get bored here! I hope to show you how study abroad can broaden your horizons and I look forward to helping you make the most of your time in wonderful Salzburg.

Special features of the AIFS program:
The AIFS program supports strong interaction with locals and international students. The academic program through the University of Salzburg is taught by local professors and offers a wide range of courses taught in English and German. The local AIFS staff offer weekly German coffee hour meetings for students to discuss current topics with locals. In addition, the well organized and diverse cultural program includes visits to Vienna, Munich, and Innsbruck; an optional trip to Prague; and a three-day visit to London. The program location allows many opportunities for students to travel to all major European destinations on the weekends. AIFS staff organize hikes in neighboring mountains.
