Study Abroad in Sydney & Fiji: Housing & Meals

Each AIFS student has a comfortable, furnished single room in the self-catering Macquarie University Village which was built to house Olympians during the 2000 Sydney games. Students will be in single rooms in these five-bedroom, two-story town houses right on campus. Apartments have a high level of security and Resident Advisors are on call 24 hours a day.

Individual bedrooms are lockable and contain a bed, desk, built-in wardrobe, set of drawers and their own en-suite bathroom including a toilet, bath and shower. Students must bring their own bed linen and towels or purchase them locally on arrival.

Each apartment has living, dining and kitchen facilities shared by the five residents - the living area includes a T.V., upholstered couch, armchair, coffee table, bookcase, dining table and six chairs. Kitchens have a mixture of stainless steel and laminate bench tops, a gas stove top, electric oven and all necessary plates and cutlery. Apartments also have their own porch areas. Students will be provided with a meal allowance to subsidize breakfast and lunch or dinner Monday through Friday in the University food court or to buy food to cook in their apartment. Students must be prepared to budget extra funds for meals, especially if they want to eat in restaurants rather than prepare their own meals.

Apartments also have their own porch areas. Apartments have a high level of security, and Resident Advisors are on call 24 hours a day.

The apartments are within a 10-minute walk of the main University campus providing access to the University gym and pool, the food court and bar, and a driving range. In addition, the Village is only a 10-minute walk to Macquarie center, which has an ice rink, movie theater and shops galore.

AIFS always arranges the best accommodation available for students. Changes in housing will be considered only in the event of health and safety issues.
