Study Abroad in Sydney & Fiji: Overview

Program at a glance

  • Academic year (July 2007-June 2008), July-December 2007 and February-June 2008 semesters
  • Open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors
  • 2.5 minimum GPA required
  • Program fees include tuition, housing, some meals, airfare if selected, excursions and cultural activities,
  • 3 credit course (10 days) at the University of the South Pacific, Fiji in the spring semester
  • Courses include Pacific studies, Australian area studies, liberal arts, business and sciences
  • The local AIFS Resident Director and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
  • On-site orientation in Sydney
  • Unique Aboriginal and Australian Studies program
  • Internships available
  • Volunteer program in local community
  • Transcripts issued by Macquarie University, plus Certificate issued by the University of the South Pacific (spring semester only)
  • Visa mandatory for Australia. Apply to the Australian consulate

Application and scholarship deadlines

  • Applications must be postmarked by April 15 for academic year or July-December semester; November 15 for February-July semester. Applications postmarked after this date are subject to a late fee of $250. Apply online now!
  • AIFS Study Abroad Scholarships available. The scholarship application deadlines are April 15 for academic year or July-December semester; October 1 for February-July semester.
