Study Abroad in Perth & Fiji: Housing & Meals
On this 9 day program, for 7 days stay in a double occupancy homestay with a local family in the center of Suva, Fiji. The program starts and ends with one night each way in a hotel in Nadi. Singles are available at no extra cost. The family will provide transportation to and from the campus, which is located just outside the city center. They will also provide breakfast and dinner every day. You must purchase your own lunch at the University cafeteria.
In Perth you will live in a comfortable, furnished, double room in an apartment with other students, at Murdoch University Village, just a few minutesí walk from the classroom buildings in the center of campus. Every apartment contains a full kitchen, living room area, table and chairs and two bathrooms. Each student has a bed, desk, chair, bookshelf, wardrobe, internet access, curtains and heater. Students pay a utilities deposit of approximately $400 directly to Murdoch University Village.
Note: The accommodation fee is based on the basic rate. The Village offers a variety of apartment configurations (4, 5 and 6 bedroom apartments.) Students may request a list of more expensive options and pay a supplement to reserve another type of room.
Murdoch University Village has a range of facilities, including swimming pool, student lounge, TV room, e-library and study spaces, high-speed internet, volley ball court and barbecue zone. Murdoch University provides 24 hour support for residents, with a dedicated team of Resident Assistants (RAs) and an evening duty manager. Apartments and common areas are only accessible by electronic swipe card and all individual bedrooms are lockable.
You will be provided with a meal allowance to subsidize breakfast and lunch or dinner Monday through Friday (except during the semester break) in the University food court or to buy food to cook in your apartment. You will need to budget extra funds for meals, especially if you wish to eat in restaurants rather than prepare your own meals.
Changes in housing will be considered only in the event of health and safety issues.
