Program Spotlight: AIFS Internship in Beijing, China
For students interested in careers in business, the new AIFS Internship in Beijing provides a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience – for academic credit – in China, a new global business leader.
While the Western economies are still struggling to recover from economic downturn, China is expected to follow a remarkable nearly 9% growth rate last year by achieving over 10% in 2010. Graduating Americans are increasingly seeing China as a "land of opportunity," either to work in or to do business with.
The experience of working in China on an internship placement has never been more valuable. The combination of academic credit, access to related courses, strong on-site support, and a lower cost than a regular semester in China makes this a timely and innovative internship program.
Internship participants will complete the following academic work during the semester, earning up to 15 credits:
- Internship in the field of finance, marketing and PR, green technology and environmental services, business administration, travel and tourism, NGOs, or charities
- Program in Mandarin language for beginners, focusing on conversation skills
- Courses in English on Chinese Culture, Preparation for Work in China and Chinese Economic and Business Development
In addition to coursework, the Internship program will offer many cultural activities to make the most of your time in China, including guided visits to:
- Tiananmen Square
- Forbidden City
- Temple of Heaven
- Summer Palace
- Great Wall
- Beijing Urban Exhibition Center.
Students may also participate in optional excursions to Nanjing, Suzhou, and Shanghai; Tianjin; and Xian.
AIFS makes it easy to study abroad! Program fees include tuition, housing in university residences, a meal plan, social/cultural activities and field trips, internship placement and monitoring, an on-site Resident Director and staff, support services in the U.S., and more. AIFS will even make flight arrangements if students choose!
