Study Abroad in Buenos Aires: Overview

Program at a glance

  • Academic year, fall or spring semester study abroad program at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) in Buenos Aires
  • Open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors
  • 2.5 minimum GPA required
  • Program fee includes tuition, housing, some meals, excursions and cultural activities, airfare if selected, visit to Iguazu Falls, and more
  • Earn up to 22 academic credits, including 5 credits for the 4-week intensive Spanish language course
  • Courses in the Latin American Studies program are open to beginners in Spanish and taught in English. Students who speak Spanish may also take some of their courses in English
  • Courses taught in Spanish require one year prior study of college level Spanish. Students may choose Spanish language plus three or four special courses (four credits each). Advanced level students may matriculate directly into University courses subject to grade results in the intensive Spanish course
  • Courses in art history, cultural studies, economics, film studies, history, law, literature, media studies, natural and physical sciences, political science, sociology, theater studies, and Spanish language
  • The local AIFS Resident Director and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
  • Weekend AIFS orientation
  • 1-week Academic orientation at the University including several immersion activities with locals (“asado” barbecue, sports afternoon, tango lessons, etc.)
  • Transcripts issued by the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina

Application and scholarship deadlines

  • Applications must be postmarked by April 15 for academic year or fall semester; November 15 for spring semester. Applications postmarked after this date are subject to a late fee of $250. Apply online now!
